Two meetings to look at on Friday, with my attention at Mildura and Albion Park. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.
Mildura
Best Bet: Race Four Number 4 Chalkncheddar
He has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but I do feel he gets a golden opportunity here. Attempted to lead throughout here last Friday and was run down late when second. Looks like he should get the lead again and prove hard to run down.
Next Best: Race Five Number 9 Cemetery Bay
This three year old has looked good since day one at the trials and he has translated that to race day. There was a bit of quality about his win here last Friday, producing sharp late splits in bolting up. Has a tricky second row draw, but got more upside than most and confident he can win again.
Value: Race Nine Number 7 Fire House Rock
Banking on the polemarker holding the front. If that does eventuate, which I assume it will, then this gelding can get a suck run in behind. Just got shuffled back from an identical draw last Friday but was solid enough in defeat. Think he can land leaders back and 1×3 at odds, he’s worth a spec.
Albion Park
Best Bet: Race Eight Number 1 Arma Veyron
Pretty keen this mare can make it 2/2 since arriving in Queensland. First run in this part of the world saw her bolt up at Redcliffe and ran sharp time in doing so.
Drawn the pole, has the gate speed to hold a forward spot, likely lead and prove very hard to get past. Best on the program, comfortably.
Next Best: Race Five Number 1 In Chevron We Trust
He doesn’t have the greatest of winning strike rates, but the thing he does have going for him is the pole draw. Had a suck run behind the speed last start and battled on nicely when second. He’ll either lead or box seat behind a good speed.
Whatever the scenario, he’ll take beating.
Value: Race Two Number 1 Sport Metal
On paper, looks a race in two, but I think this girl can get the suck run behind a speed battle and get a look via the sprint lane. Her recent form has been more than sound and should she be able to land leaders back, I think she is in with a big shout at a decent price.
