There are two meetings to look at on Saturday night, with Albion Park and Menangle getting my focus.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 7, Number 1, Captain Crusader
He has had no luck with barriers in recent runs but that all changes here with the coveted pole draw and with that, he’s the stand out on the card. He was far too classy for them when winning here two weeks ago, getting the suck run behind the speed and proving far too good. He should find the front and be too sharp.

Next best: Race 1, Number 1, Virgil
I am confident this guy can make it three on the bounce. He led throughout to win here last Saturday night, his second win in under a week. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was too good. There is more depth here, and he is followed out by a key threat, but I am confident he gets control and hangs on.

Value: Race 2, Number 1, Kid Montana
I am happy to speck this guy at odds. He had the suck run behind the speed when racing here last Saturday and battled on pretty well in defeat. He has the pole once again and likely lands behind the speed once again. If the tempo is soft, he comes into play as a knockout chance.

Menangle

Best bet: Race 1, Number 2, Rusty Crackers
The market will be fascinating with this guy but given the significant stable switch, and with respect, a positive stable switch, he’s clearly the one to beat in the opener. We see so often Jason Grimson improve these country/provincial class pacers and turn them into solid metro performers. If he can work his magic once again, this horse likely leads and wins.

Next best: Race 3, Number 8, Max Delight
It took a little while for him to find his best but he bounced back to somewhere near it when winning here two weeks ago and I’m confident he makes it two on the bounce. He has drawn Gate 8, so is out wide, but has good gate speed and he can lead, taking a power of running down.

Value: Race 4, Number 1, Controversial
This guy is worth a throw at the stumps at odds. Don Boston will fire off the arm and bolt clear. Bennelong Valley should cross Controversial and that horse will likely have to do the donkey work to drag the field up to Don Boston. Controversial gets the suck run, the ideal drag up and can be dangerous at a price.
