Two meetings to look at on Monday, with my attention at Newcastle and Globe Derby. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Newcastle

Best bet: Race 5, Number 1, Cinos Legacy
Fascinating runner that was formerly with the Ingold camp but now finds herself with Darren Elder, with Brad Elder to steer. Surprised many with a win here three back before a couple of plain runs. Now in a new yard, the two trials at Maitland were sharp and should she hold the lead, she’ll take a power of beating.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 2, What Now Shannon
Hard to beat, I’d suggest. Has done little wrong this time in for Darren Elder, winning the opening two runs for the prep before being somewhat luckless his next two, the latest a third after getting held up on the pegs. Should land an ideal spot from the gate and be hard to hold out late.

Value: Race 1, Number 1, Hurrikaani
This girl is worth having something small on at big odds. Hasn’t set the world on fire in three career outings, but she hasn’t had much luck with the gates the last two, even though she had gate speed two back and landed leaders back. Does no work from the pole and in a thin maiden, 1×3, she could run a cheeky race.

Globe Derby

Best bet: Race 2, Number 3, Lovelorn
He is fast becoming a nice up-and-coming trotter and should be taking this out. Dominant win at this track and distance three weeks ago when leading most of the way and proved far too good for them. If he gets away safely, he should find the front and from there, it’ll be a painless watch.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 3, Bella Blondie
First run for David Harding and expecting it to be a winning debut for the new camp. Former NSW pacer that had a few runs for the Dunkley camp and didn’t exactly set the world on fire. Now in the care of a leading stable with Danielle Hill steering, she’ll take a power of beating.

Value: Race 4, Number 2, Snapper Rocks
I’m The Mighty Judd should be able to hold the lead from the pole. With that, I can see this guy getting the suck run behind him and getting his chance via the sprint lane. Hasn’t really had a soft barrier in recent times but he gets that here and can run a cheeky race at a price.
