There are two meetings to look at on Wednesday night, with my attention at Bathurst and Bendigo.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Bathurst

Best bet: Race 3, Number 5, Perfect Cut
It should be a pretty painless watch for this two-year-old and it is a multi anchor. This horse is a former Kiwi who has had two runs in Australia. This horse was far from disgraced in start one at Menangle, then raced here two weeks ago and made a mess of them. This horse should find the front, have control and be far too good.

Next best: Race 4, Number 10, Lyrical Genius
This horse is a smart juvenile for Amanda Turnbull that let us down last Wednesday, but I want to give him another chance. He was first up and just didn’t look switched on. By the time he was headed, he surged again to run second. Perhaps with cover and a drag into the race, he’ll be more effective.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Myra Dawn
He’s in with a big shout here at odds. It looks like an even race on paper and it could well come down to run-of-the-race stuff, which this guy will get from the pole, likely behind the leader. This horse had that run here last week and just missed so each way, he’s worth a gamble.

Bendigo

Best bet: Race 5, Number 5, Captain Pins
He might have to sit parked in order to win, but he’s pretty good. Unbeaten in two Australian runs, this former Kiwi was outstanding at Maryborough last start when on speed, copping pressure, but still managed to rattle off a sub 56 final half. He’s well above average and though he likely has to work again to win, he showed last start he can do that and still win.

Next best: Race 1, Number 1, Ideal Pace
Masquerading has the runs on the board and likely goes around a short-priced favourite, but this colt can beat him. This horse debuted at Cobram in a hot race and ran very well when second to Hes Charlies Angel, who is well above average, so I am respecting that form, and if he lands leaders back, ideally behind Masquerading, he can beat him via the sprint lane.

Value: Race 6, Number 1, Out Pontiac
This horse is likely to go around at big odds here given he hasn’t won in a little while and has been beaten comfortably in recent runs, but he has a good draw to do no work with the pole. There looks to be a bit of speed on the front line, but if he can hold a forward spot, he’s in with a shout at a price.
