Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with my attention at Albion Park and Penrith. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 5, Number 1, Arma Veyron
He has let punters down his past two, but I think he can get back in the good books with a win here. Led and run down two back before sitting parked last time and battling on well when second. From the inside draw, should have little trouble leading and proving hard to run down.

Next-best: Race 7, Number 1, Classie American
Gee, he looks well placed in a race like this. Has contested much stronger in recent runs and for the most part, has been far from disgraced. Drops big time in grade/depth, should get a charmed run from the draw and all things being equal, he’ll prove too good.

Value: Race 3, Number 1, Pageantry
Amazingly in a 130 start career, he has only had one run here. What I will say is that this race is seriously lacking in the depth department and he doesn’t have to be anything special to figure in the finish at odds. His recent efforts at Redcliffe have been sound and from the pole, he only runs well.

Penrith

Best bet: Race 3, Number 3, Chevron Art
For the most part, has been solid since arriving from New Zealand, and this does look a very winnable race, especially with the barrier. Had to overcome a tricky draw here last start and was good in defeat when second. Has gate speed to find the front and from there is hard to get past.

Next-best: Race 4, Number 8, Marmitta
If she is anywhere near the mark regarding fitness levels, she’ll have a bit too much class for this lot. Jason Grimson-trained filly that resumes after doing some nice things when last in work, including wins at Menangle. Resumes without a public trial but suspect she’ll be around the mark and ready to go.

Value: Race 1, Number 1, Etiz Amodel
I can’t say I’d back her with confidence to run for my life, but she has a soft gate to do no work and on the pegs at Penrith, despite it being a tight track with no sprint lane, is a good spot to be. Solid in defeat last time out here when fourth. I doubt she wins, but is worth a speck as a place bet.
