There are two meetings to look at on Saturday, with my attention at Albion Park and Menangle.

Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 3, Number 1, Lombo Heaven
It just looks like a perfect set-up for him. He does his best racing when he’s allowed to roll on speed and from the pole, he’ll get that scenario. This horse wasn’t suited behind the leader last time out but the barrier upgrade does ensure he’s quite clearly the one to beat.

Next best: Race 6, Number 3, Black Hawk Joe
This horse gets a really good swing in gates from last start so I’m confident he bounces back. This horse had to overcome a wide draw when racing here last start and worked to the line strongly. This horse has drawn the front line. He can push forward to find a spot near the front and if that eventuates, he’ll take beating.

Value: Race 8, Number 1, Fairiesdelight
She’s worth a 1×3 speck at odds. This horse is racing well this time in for Chantal Turpin and isn’t too far off a win. This horse had a sit near the speed last time out here and got close, running a narrow second. If she can lob leaders back again, she’s not without winning claims at a decent price.

Best bet: Race 2, Number 10, Major Bob
The draw makes things tricky for him, but he’s absolutely flying and he can overcome the barrier. This horse had a big win here earlier this week, sitting off the speed before peeling wider and unleashing a powerful finishing burst, producing electric late splits. He’ll concede a start, but he can overcome it and win again.

Next best: Race 1, Number 3, Metal Rock
It is getting towards last-chance territory but the saving grace is the barrier. It’s been ages since he has come up with a decent gate and he gets it this time around. This horse possesses gate speed, so I am anticipating a positive drive from Cameron Hart and with his best, he’ll take a power of beating.

Value: Race 3, Number 1, Bracken Knight
He’s in with a shout at a price. This horse is trained by Paul Fitzpatrick and ran last Thursday night at Penrith when doing plenty of work in the run and just feeling the pinch late. I am not sure he has the class, but does no work from the pole, has race fitness on his side and I can entertain him 1×3 at odds.
