The 2021 Brownlow Medal is expected to be one of the closest counts in recent years, with a number of the AFL’s biggest stars vying for the competition’s most coveted gong.

Like last year, the Brownlow Medal has been moved from its traditional spot of Monday of grand final week to Sunday evening. The night will begin at 7:30pm (AEST); based on previous years, the winner is expected to be crowned at roughly 10:45pm (AEST).
Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines is the outright favourite for the gong after a career-best year, but Melbourne guns Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and St Kilda dynamo Jack Steele are also well and truly in the running.
Also to be announced on the night are the 2021 Mark and Goal of the Year awards. The latter is set to be another hotly contested award, with Richmond duo Jack Riewoldt and Shai Bolton and Hawthorn tall Tim O’Brien all potential winners for their sensational screamers.
As has been the case since 2011, the only way to watch the Brownlow Medal count on broadcast television will be through Channel Seven.
Their coverage begins at 7pm (AEDT), but may be on 7mate in your area – so check your local guide to make sure.
While the COVID-19 pandemic will again prevent the usual red carpet festivities, Western Australian teams, as well as grand finalists Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs, will all have their players strut their stuff before the count begins. South Australia and Queensland-based clubs will have their own events, COVID issues notwithstanding.
Unlike last year, which was almost wholly a virtual event, AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan will be reading the votes live and in person from Optus Stadium.
Their coverage is expected to end up roughly 11:30pm (AEDT).
Unlike most other events on the AFL calendar, you will not be able to watch the Brownlow count on Fox Footy.
UPDATE: There is NO live streaming option available for this year’s Brownlow medal due to a rights mixup.
Your only option is to watch the television coverage on Seven (or 7mate).

It’s not on the AFL app even with live pass. AFL needs to take the broadcasting rights off channel 7.

This is absolutely horrible. Not everyone these days has free to air options! I stream 100% of my content through appletv...and seven doesnt have any app option apart from 7plus *which wont show it. What a giant disaster.
