Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Charlton and Penrith getting my focus. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Charlton

Best bet: Race 2, Number 8, Parisian Artiste
Just has to do everything right and he’ll be too good. Made a bad error at Geelong last time and did a remarkable job to get as close as he did when third after being tailed off early. Just needs to produce his best manners and I think he’ll be winning.

Next-best: Race 1, Number 8, Coco Beach
This mare will need luck from the second row draw, but there should be quite a genuine tempo in front so she will get her chance to finish over the top, provided she gets away from the inside. Had to do work last time out at Mildura and stuck on well when fourth. I think she’ll take a power of beating here.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Lexus On The Beach
Drawn the pole, he should get a suck run from the draw and each way, he’s worth a speck. Pulled hard on the pegs last start at Cranbourne and battled on well when third. I think he’ll land leaders back here and from there, get every chance and I think is going well enough to run a cheeky race.

Penrith

Best bet: Race 2, Number 1, Major Statement
He finds a perfect race to bounce back into winning form. Has been close up in recent times without winning, but hasn’t been helped by tricky gates. He comes up with the pole this time around, so should be holding the lead comfortably and proving quite hard to run down.

Next Best: Race 5, Number 9, My Ultimate Skeeta
A juvenile that takes on the older horses, but he has class and should be too good for this lot. Ran a super race last Tuesday at Menangle behind one of the better juveniles in NSW, Smaltese. This is a massive drop in depth and despite the second row draw, he should be winning.

Value: Race 1, Number 7, Miss Sonic Boom
I think this filly is definitely worth something on each way. She’ll more than likely land three pegs so will need luck, but I suspect this will be a peg dominated affair and usually, those nearer the inside that are back on the pegs can get clear. That is what I am hoping with this filly, who is a definite chance.
