Two meetings to look at on Thursday, with Maryborough and Redcliffe getting my focus. Down below are your best bets for the respective programs.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 1, Number 1, Tiara Stride
Getting the best bet out of the way nice and early via this mare. Lone placing in seven runs came last start at Bendigo when forced to sit parked out for the final 1000m or so of the race and fought on well when second. Should hold up from the pole, lead and prove tough to get past.

Next-best: Race 3, Number 9, Interview
European bred colt that looks well above average. Broke in the first score up, causing a false start. Second time around, got out smoothly, led, and he spanked his rivals in an impressive display at start one. If he does everything right, you would think he has too much on these.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Mactrim
Think this filly is worth a small each way speck at odds. Just got too far back fresh at Wagga before going to Bendigo where she was tardy away from the pole, got buried on the pegs and couldn’t get involved. If she can hold a forward spot from the gate, she’s in with a shout at a big price.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 3, Number 1, Misty Creek
He saves his best for Redcliffe and returning this track, returning to easier company, he should be winning. Contested strong two-year-old races at Albion Park his past two and while he didn’t win, he was far from disgraced. This looks his right level and from the pole, should lead and be winning.

Next-best: Race 4, Number 1, Sammys Secret
Bursting to win his maiden and he gets a great chance here. Just did too much work in the run when racing here last Wednesday, so I want to be forgiving of that effort. Much better suited here from the pole, where I think he’ll find the front and from there, prove hard to run down.

Value: Race 2, Number 1, Champagne Reactor
She’s on the quick back up from Monday night but I think she can run a positive race here at odds. Had the box seat when racing earlier this week and battled on well when a close up third. If she can get the same run again, this field isn’t much stronger, so for mine, she’s worth an each way ticket.
