Two meetings to look at on Wednesday, with my focus at Maryborough and Redcliffe.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 3, Number 9, Tex Goes Bang
Bursting to break his maiden tag and he gets a great chance here. Ran over the sprint trip from this draw last time out at this track and battled on well to run third. Three back he was game in defeat when second after doing a power of work. He’ll do me.

Next best: Race 5, Number 1, Abettawaytodoit
If she can muster early speed from the front line draw, she’s the one they have to beat. Was a real eye catcher on debut at Swan Hill when back in the run and making up good ground. If she is able to hold a forward spot from the pole, she’ll take a power of beating here.

Value: Race 1, Number 2, Will Patrick
Each-way bet in the opener. Four runs ago came here where he led and fought on well when second. Rub of the green hasn’t gone his way in three subsequent runs. He has a good draw to use, has the gate speed to lead and in front in a race like this, he’ll take beating.

Redcliffe

Best bet: Race 4, Number 1, Woodlands Wonder
This gelding loves to race from the front and at Redcliffe, on-speed is the spot to be. Showed great early toe to lead at Albion Park last time and battled on well when second, with a gap to third. He should have little trouble holding up from the pole, lead and it’ll take a good one to get past them.

Next best: Race 2, Number 1, Nina Simone
She hasn’t set the world on fire in three runs at Redcliffe, but she comes up with a really good gate to use and finds a winnable race. Forced to do a power of work last time and battled on well in defeat. Should get the run of the race from the draw and prove hard to hold out.

Value: Race 6, Number 7, Blackjewel
It looks a good map for this mare and each way, she’ll do me here. Has won two of her past three and last start had the box seat sit when winning, a similar set up to what she’ll get here given she follows out a fast beginner. If so, she only runs well here.
