Two meetings to look at on Tuesday, with my focus at Albion Park and Shepparton. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park
Best Bet: Race 2, Number 1, Hector

0/5 since arriving from NZ, but gee he gets a great chance to get the win on the board. He has run well in those five runs, but has been plagued by bad gates. That all changes here, drawing the pole. I think he has the gate speed to hold up and in front, he’ll take a power of beating.

Next Best: Race 1, Number 1, Artful Maid
Hoping for sustained speed from the front. Led all the way three back before a narrow placing next start. Last time out, she did a power of work in search of the lead but couldn’t find it, was forced to sit parked and dropped out to run last. The lead is there for her and she races best when in front.

Value: Race 5, Number 8, Whata Roller
Tricky race, so going to have a small speck with this guy, who resumes for John McMullen. Hasn’t really fired a shot since arriving from Victoria, but comes up with a good trailing draw. Ideally lands leaders back, but I think three back is the likely spot. He’ll be big odds and I think is worth a small 1×3 bet.

Shepparton
Best Bet: Race 2, Number 10, Tripod

His manners are hit and miss, but if he does everything right, it’s thank you linesmen and thank you ball boys. He’s just better than these. Two of the three runs down under have come at Maryborough, winning the first start before manners have let him down his following two runs. If he does everything right, he wins.

Next Best: Race 5, Number 1, Fashion Passion
Alex Ashwood trained mare that is looking to make it three on the bounce. Made a mess on average bunch at Mildura two back before getting the 1/1 sit at Tabcorp Park Melton and she was too good for them. Has the pole, and think she holds the front. Hard to beat despite a clear class/depth rise.

Value: Race 9, Number 1, Righteously
Bludger of a race so going to have a throw at the stumps each way via this mare. Her recent numerical form is nothing to jump up and down about, but she comes up with her best gate in some time and given the depth engaged is thin, she’s worth an each way ticket.
