Two meetings to look at on Monday, with Maryborough and South Australia getting my attention. Down below is best bets for the respective programs.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 1, Number 3, Conspirator
Former Kiwi that makes his Australian debut and I think the debut will result in a win. Was far from disgraced when racing in New Zealand and more often than not, these former Kiwis dominatw when they come across and a recent trial effort suggests this guy will be winning races.

Next-best: Race 3, Number 5, Spikey Boy
Looks a good set up for this four-year-old. He seems best suited at the sprint trip and with a good draw, along with gate speed, he looks hard to beat. Attempted to lead throughout at Melton last time and gave a good kick but just felt the pinch late. Should find the front comfortably here and take beating.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Foregone Conclusion
From the draw, I think he’s a great each-way gamble. Showed good ticker to win two back at Mildura, then last time out at Ararat, not sure the race shape was to his liking so want to be forgiving. Should get a lovely run from the pole and in an even race, I think he’s the bet each way.

South Australia

Best bet: Race 2, Number 3, Vindicate
He does look the best on the program. He has done little wrong since arriving in Australia from New Zealand and looks to have found a very winnable race. Just did a bit too much work at Globe Derby last time out but stayed on well for third. Drawn better here, he should lead and be tough to get past.

Next-best: Race 5, Number 2, The Big Yin
Market will be fascinating with him. If he brings anything near his Victorian form, he will just spank these. Resumes without a trial, but has the Bain/Hill combo and they are lethal in SA. Has a good draw to use gate speed, likely lead this field up and take a power of beating.

Value: Race 4, Number 1, Pet Kitty
Bit of a throw at the stumps via this mare. Has done zero in two runs back from a spell, both being at Globe Derby where she has finished tailed off each time. Interesting she hasn’t been asked to trial to show she’s going any good but this race is thin, she has the pole and don’t need much on at likely big odds.
