Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is back from injury and ready to impress, according to manager Ralf Rangnick.

With a deal destined to end in the summer and nothing on the table from United at this late stage of the season, one can only assume that any alternative offer for the Frenchman would be considered by the player and club alike.

To date, there does not appear to have been any serious offer tabled and that potentially tells us all we need to know about the reputation of a player who’s been unconvincing at Manchester in recent times. Any club taking him on board would be inheriting obvious risk and with so much disciplined talent available, it is no wonder Pogba is currently living in football limbo.

Rangnick has further issues with which to deal at United, with the mysterious case of Anthony Martial’s apparent refusal to take to the field a week ago, likely reflective of a rather serious tension between he and the manger.

Denials aside, any third party interested in stepping in and providing Martial with the new start he obviously seeks would not be ignored. One wonders how many Premier League clubs took notice of the obvious tensions and have asked about Martial’s commitment to the club.

A whisper of Juventus’ interest has already been heard and it will be no surprise if further inquiries are made before the winter transfer period comes to an end.

Personally, with United’s issues seemingly far from over, the Frenchman might well be smart to leave immediately and make a fresh start before he finds himself occupying the bench on a regular basis.

English paper talk continues to appear desperate to link Brighton manager Graham Potter with the Everton job, despite the man himself being adamant that he is content with the Seagulls.

More accurate is the idea of Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard both completing interviews with the club and the successful candidate coming from those two quality men.

For Lampard, it would be a stunning return to the Premier League after his humiliating final days at Chelsea and Rooney would become one of the youngest men in the top jobs after doing decent work with Derby County.

Another day and another player on the radar of Newcastle United. Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata is the next man on the Magpies wish list, yet the Italian club has reportedly rejected the initial loan offer, rumoured to be in the region of £25 million should Newcastle avoid relegation.

No doubt the Italians are looking for a little more and a counter-offer could well be on the way for a player reportedly open to a move abroad. Insiders suggest Atalanta are seeking an additional £13 to £15 million for the Colombian’s services and are destined to take him back at the end of the season should Newcastle suffer the drop.

In other news, Eden Hazard has reportedly had enough of Madrid and is keen to leave. Newcastle is rumoured to have made a £41.3 million offer for the 31-year-old, yet the Belgian is not keen to sign the deal, despite the fact that Madrid have accepted the terms.

It reeks of an ugly stand-off, with the player a sticking point, rather than the clubs bickering over money.

Whether another Premier League club is soon to announce its interest and Hazard preferential to their offer is unknown, yet Newcastle will not linger too long should he fail to come to terms in the coming days. After all, they have plenty of coin to spend.

Brenden Aaronson was sold by Philadelphia Union to RB Salzburg just on a year ago. Now the American has caught the attention of Premier League club Leeds United, with midfield depth the apparent need they appear keen to address.

Sports opinion delivered daily

The English club want him ASAP and Salzburg and Philadelphia stand to benefit from any sale that sees the 21-year-old venture to the United Kingdom. This appears to be a certain sale, as long as the parties involved can reach an agreement they feel benefits them all.

In other news, AC Milan has its sights set on Tottenham defender Japhet Tanganga, with a potential loan in their planning, Antonio Rudiger’s future at Chelsea remains up in the air, with little clarity emerging around a new Blues contract or a move to another major European club, and Ousmane Dembele may well have played his final game for Barcelona with an ultimatum to sign a new deal or depart apparently slapped on the table in front of him.

Just 12 days remain of the 2022 winter transfer window across the major European leagues and the deals are sure to come in quick succession during that time. Be sure to stick with The Roar for all the rumours and done deals as the biggest clubs on the continent continue hunting for talent to complete their squads.
