Two meetings to look at on Monday, with my attention at Hamilton and Globe Derby. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Hamilton

Best bet: Race 3, Number 6, Miss Social Media

Alex Ashwood has this mare absolutely flying and confident she can make it three on the bounce. The two wins have come at Mildura where she has dominated from the front and spanked them. Bit more depth here and drawn wide, but should press forward and take beating.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 6, One Over All

I think this Former Kiwi wins if he brings his best. Two Australian runs at the end of last prep were just fair but he’s now had a full prep with Jess Tubbs. No public trials but he brings a class edge. If he’s ready to go, I think that class edge will be enough to get him home, but watch the market.

Value: Race 8, Number 1, Amore Rock

I think this six-year-old is worth a speck at odds each way in a tricky race to close out the program. He’s had little luck with gates in recent times but that all changes here with the pole. If he can hold a forward spot, ideally behind the leader, he’ll be dangerous.

Globe Derby

Best bet: Race 2, Number 2, The Diamond King

This guy looks hard to run down. He hasn’t exactly set the world on fire in recent starts but I think he finds such a thin race, and from the good draw, I suspect we’ll see an aggressive drive from Wayne Hill, likely leading and proving hard to get past. Hopefully there is a market push.

Next-best: Race 4, Number 1, Steinem

I reckon this guy does his best racing when in front so from the pole draw, I think he can hold the lead and from the front, he’ll take beating. Down the track here on Saturday night but has a much better gate to use this time around so expecting a much improved run.

Value: Race 5, Number 1, Orlandos Gift

Gee, he looks a great each way bet. He did more than enough fresh behind a smart one, Make Mine Muscle. Then last start he just had no luck at all, which is hard to say given he was beaten 80 metres, but he had no luck at all. Gets run of the race from the pole and only runs well.
