Race 9: Doncaster Handicap – 21 Bankers Choice (1 unit @ $17)
Where do we start? Bankers Choice was excellent chasing Forbidden Love in the George Ryder, he meets the favourite two kilos hbetter for that and, comparing $4 with $17, I think the bet.
Trifecta: 21/16/17/20/7 (60 combinations)
Race 8: TJ Smith Stakes – 2 Eduardo (1 unit @ $4)
A ripping Autumn grand final for the sprinters, I think Eduardo is favoured in the conditions and draw and will be hard to get past. Nature Strip is elite, just risking considering he paddled late in similar ground last time. Shelby Sixtysix? The people’s horse is a big show again, I’m wary.
Race 7: Australian Derby – 15 Benaud (1 unit @ $11)
Benaud was absolutely cuddled in the Tulloch on Monday, he peaks today and looks a good bet at double-figure odds. I am a bit worried by the gate and the potential to again get caught a long way back, I’m trusting the in form Avdulla to get the job done. Interesting in Raging Bull at 33/1, was a late scratching last time so is a run short, but will go forward and is from a sneaky good trainer.
Race 6: Sires Produce – 1 Daumier (1 unit @ $12)
The best of the on-pacers looks to be Daumier, he was very good in the Slipper after winning the Blue Diamond. Should handle the going and settle close to a favourable tempo. Fireburn could be a star, I just think she’s very short in the conditions.
