There are two meetings to look at on Friday, with my focus at Albion Park and Bendigo. Below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 7, Number 10, Majestic Harry
His best will see him win. He made a mess of them two back before going to Redcliffe where the tight track was always going to be a concern and so it proved, with the former Kiwi breaking and losing all hope. I love him back on the bigger track and I am confident he wins, provided he brings his best manners.

Next best: Race 8, Number 1, Nina Simone
This mare switched camps prior to last start, joining Shane Graham. The horse’s first run was at Redcliffe where she drew the pole and was able to hold the lead. Once that eventuated, she was miles too good in an impressive display.

Value: Race 3, Number 8, The General
It looks like it will be a race with a stack of early speed so I want to be on one that’ll do no work and be strong late. This guy maps to be one of those. Inside the second row, he follows out good speed and his recent efforts haven’t been too bad. If he can land leaders back, he’ll be quite dangerous at a price.

Bendigo

Best bet: Race 9, Number 4, Call On Me
The market will be fascinating but if this horse is ready to go, this horse can make a winning debut. This horse is an Emma Stewart-trained mare that hasn’t been seen at the trials in around 12 months, hence the market will be the main guide. But this stable and first starters, especially on feature nights, usually means they’re ready to go.

Next best: Race 12, Number 4, Little Suzie
This horse is a former Kiwi that makes her Australian debut and it’ll be a winning debut. Her NZ form is nothing to jump up and down about but I loved the way she trialled behind a smart one, running second. And although beaten comfortably, there was a gap to third. I am confident she can get the job done.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Garshaway
This is an open edition of the Trotters Cup so I am having a throw at the stumps via this guy. Like several engaged here, this horse ran in the Echuca Cup two weeks ago where he had a suck run nearer the inside and battled away okay in defeat when fourth. There is more depth here, but this horse draws to do no work and is worth a speck at a big price.
