AFLW grand final preview: Will Adelaide or Melbourne make history?

We are down to two! The AFLW season is drawing to its conclusion, with the grand final taking place on Saturday afternoon between the Adelaide Crows and the Melbourne Demons at the Adelaide Oval. 

Without doubt the two best sides of the season are meeting in a blockbuster grand final. Both sides have a 9-1 record.

Adelaide were minor premiers only on percentage. Their only loss came against the Dogs by one point in Round 6.

Melbourne’s only loss of the season was to the Crows, so they will be hungry to avenge that defeat and bring home an historic AFLW flag. 

The key players include Ash Woodland, the leading goal kicker in the competition, with 22 goals. She will want to fire up forward.  

Alongside her, Erin Phillips can help the scoring power down forward.

Tayla Harris is appearing in her third grand final at her third club, all against the same opponent.

She has 18 goals so far this year. She had a quiet preliminary final, but will want a break-out grand final to lead Melbourne down forward. 

Daisy Pearce is a key to Melbourne’s chances. She is electric through the midfield and down forward when she gets going.

The Crows are in their fourth grand final, aiming for their third AFLW premiership.

They will be looking to rebound from their loss in last year’s decider to the Brisbane Lions.

The Demons are in their first ever AFLW grand final and are looking to make history by becoming the first side to have both their men’s and women’s teams be premiers at the same time. 

The Crows start favourites at $1.60, which is understandable considering their latest form. The Demons start at $2.28.

My prediction is a close contest, with Melbourne getting over the line by 15 points.

Tayla Harris and Daisy Peace will fire, as Melbourne bring home an historic AFLW premiership.
