Two meetings to look at on Monday, with Narrabri and Hamilton getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Narrabri

Best bet: Race 3, Number 2, Lord Bazalup

Former Tassie that has his first run for Darren Elder and this stable has had good success with that formula. He brings over some decent form from the Apple Isle and he finds a really thin race. Should lead this field up comfortably and from in front, should be a painless watch.

Next-best: Race 1, Number 2, Madame Pele

This mare is yet to win in 16 starts, but she gets a golden chance to get a win on the board. Ran last Friday at Newcastle when near the speed throughout and tried her guts out when second. Has the gate speed to lead from the draw here and on speed at this track is a big advantage.

Value: Race 8, Number 1, Everything Happens

Very small 1×3 speck at a big price in an even race to close out the meeting. I’d say he’s had excuses his past couple. Had little trouble getting clear air at Tamworth two back before racing there again and breaking, losing all hope. If he can hold a forward spot from the gate, he’ll be in with a shout at odds.

Hamilton

Best bet: Race 6, Number 4, Bentleigh

If you are a forgiving type, I think you can bet up with confidence. Put together a couple of sharp wins before going to Charlton last time when a $1.40 favourite and I think just went a bit too keen on speed when a tiring fourth. Should lead this field up and off the wins prior, he wins this.

Next-best: Race 1, Number 1, Gauci

It’s rare that Kate Hargreaves gets a cast off and they go backwards, so with that in mind, I’m in his corner. His form from Tassie is just fair, but loved the change-up speed he produced to win a recent Melton trial, clocking a strong late split in the process. I think he’ll lead and take beating.

Value: Race 7, Number 8, Jilliby Dynamite

I think he’ll likely end up three back the pegs, but he’s flying and will do no work. Did plenty of work to find the front at Horsham last time and was there to be run down but found under pressure and got the win. Good test here, but with a suck run off the speed, he’s in with a shout.
