Two meetings to look at on Friday, with Maryborough and Albion Park getting my attention. Down below are the best bets for the respective programs.

Maryborough

Best bet: Race 5, Number 8, Our Little Jet

Talented filly for Emma Stewart that resumes and I think she can resume a winner. Hasn’t raced since December 31 when fourth at Group 1 level at Melton and was far from disgraced in defeat. Resumes without a public trial but stable is flying and she has a clear class edge.

Next-best: Race 6, Number 5, Courage Stride

He’s a quality colt that is second up here and should prove hard to beat. Resumed at this track when a short-priced elect. He led and looked to travel well but being fresh, condition just gave way and he tired. Better for the run, he should find the top and prove hard to run down.

Value: Race 7, Number 1, Renko

Former Kiwi that hasn’t been bad in a couple of Australian runs for Julie Douglas. Came second at Bendigo last time after getting the box seat behind the speed. He’ll stalk the leader and odds on pop, getting the run of the race from the draw. I think he’s a great each-way bet.

Albion Park

Best bet: Race 7, Number 3, Tims A Trooper

He gets the barrier draw advantage and he gets the nod. He and Speak The Truth had a good battle at this track last time out with the latter getting the verdict. Barriers are advantage Tims A Trooper, he should lead, get control and be the one to beat. Keen on his chances.

Next-best: Race 10, Number 8, Cat King Cole

Ideal multi anchor. Star filly that resumes and should resume a winner. She was the pin-up juvenile of last season, including a Group 1 win. Trials have been nothing to jump up and down about, but has a clear class edge and even with the second row draw, she’ll be far too good.

Value: Race 8, Number 2, Fremarksindi

This girl has had no luck with barriers in recent times, but that all changes here with the pole gate. She mainly does her racing at Redcliffe, so will be interesting to see how she goes at Albion Park. On form, I’d say you’d want a price, so you should get it, and gets run of the race. Good each-way play.
