‘Hooray, a heavy 8,’ we all sing with delight! North to Gosford we head this Saturday, it looks a day of tricky big fields mixed between those heading to Brisbane and those trying to end recent bog campaigns with a result.

Best bet: Race 9 – 9 Chartres (2 units @ $12)
Banking on an alternative form line with Chartres in The Coast, he had a setback and didn’t race on his last trip north, but has since won a good restricted race back in Melbourne and gets in well here. The wet track is a big plus, at double figures I’m happy to have a solid play.

Best value: Race 8 – 13 Gospodin (2 units @ $26)
From Vic form with Chartres to NZ stuff with Gospodin, he’s been going well in similar class across the ditch and drops weight to run at the minimum 53 kilos in this. Should settle midfield, there looks to be speed everywhere so watch him coming home.

The kicker – yep, like Sibaaq (scratched with the wet last week and again from the last today), he’s recently been gelded and isn’t here for a holiday.
