Game 2 of the 2022 State of Origin series between the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons is scheduled to kick off tonight at 7:50pm AEST.
UPDATE: The match kicked off at 7:52pm – You can follow the action here.
It’s just the second time the rugby league showpiece event has headed west.
The last time a match was played in Perth, NSW won 38-6 with Jake Trbojevic voted the man of the match.
Perhaps that’s why Blues coach Brad Fittler has chosen to bring Jake back into his Origin team after his side lost the opening match in Sydney 16-10.
Being in Perth there can be a bit of confusion with start times depending on where you live in Australia and around the world.
The match is scheduled to start at 5:50pm local time in Perth which is 7:50pm AEST for those on the east coast, 7:20pm for those in South Australia and the Northern Territory and 9:50pm if you’re watching in New Zealand.
In recent years the actual kick-off has been reasonably close to the scheduled time and indeed if we go on Game 1 there was just four minutes outside the scheduled time with the game kicking off at 8:14pm in Sydney after a scheduled time of 8:10pm.
With the scheduled start time earlier than Game 1 it might extend a little further than four minutes.
The Welcome to Country and National Anthem usually take place around five minutes before kick-off, so we should know by then whether the match will actually begin on time.
As is tradition on The Roar we have kick-off bingo!
Be sure to pop your predicted start time in the form below, and leave a comment with your thoughts. We’ll publish the results of the State of Origin kick-off bingo poll around an hour before kick-off; and once the game does eventually get underway, we’ll pop the actual kick-off time in here as well.
