We discovered once again that the Wallabies don’t mind a bit of adversity to start the Rugby Championship.
They lost their captain in Michael Hooper due to personal reasons and another injury to Quade Cooper tested the depth. A familiar theme in 2022.
However, Fraser McReight stepped up to the challenge at no.7 in place of Hooper and Reece Hodge answered the call in the second half replacing Cooper in the no.10 jersey.
It came at a crucial time with Argentina threatening to take the game away from the Wallabies after securing a 19-10 lead into the break.
James Slipper put in a solid performance as captain, Folau Fainga’a was superb.
The amount of players who averaged in the 7s according to your votes shows how admirably the team performed in the cauldron atmosphere of Mendoza.
Folau Fainga’a was narrowly voted best on ground for the Wallabies with an average score of 7.84, just ahead of Rob Valetini 7.75 and then McReight at 7.38.
Of the guys who played more than 40 minutes of rugby all received a pass mark including Marika Koroibete who wasn’t quite at his blistering best which is good signs for the Wallabies who will be keen to take a clean sweep in Argentina this weekend.
