Super Rugby Pacific Casualty Ward, Round 13: Porecki, Lee-Warner return for Tahs, Paisami suffers leg injury, DMac is back

By The Roar / Editor

Welcome to the Super Rugby Pacific Casualty Ward, the hub of all injury updates and news for the 2025 season.

SUPER RUGBY TEAMS ROUND 13

Dave Porecki, who skippered the Wallabies during the 2023 World Cup, is back for the Waratahs alongside lock Fergus Lee-Warner, who will play his first Super game of the season after suffering a pre-season injury in Japan in November.

Filipo Daugunu returns for the Reds against the Tahs, but they will be without Hunter Paisami after the Wallabies centre suffered a badly corked thigh against Fijian Dru last time out.

All Black Damian McKenzie is a welcome return for the Chiefs after recovering from a hand injury.

The following list and summary detail the current state of injuries confirmed by each Super Rugby side, with the type of injury and reported duration on the sidelines. We have also included the earliest return estimate based on the data available.

This acts purely as a guide for team statuses and Super Rugby Fantasy and can be subject to late change ahead of opening fixtures.

Lastly, this page will be under heavy construction throughout the season – the casualty ward is accurate as of Wednesday, May 7, ahead of round 13 of Super Rugby Pacific.

I appreciate and understand your point/s however it is an attitude that is peculiar to QLD. If it is designed to confuse other teams as to when a player will be able to play again (pretty easy to estimate by the type of injury when a player will be back) it is puerile given all other teams are transparent about the type of injury and add TBC, or more, as to when the player is expected back.

Maybe. Perhaps Queensland's player contracts don't include any wording to have players waive their right to privacy over medical issues. While as fans we feel as though we have a right to know, we really don't. All we really have a right to know is if a player is playing or not and if not, when might they be expected to return. Queensland are certainly letting everyone down with the lack of communication around when injured players are expected back. They don't have to be exact. As some teams are doing, a simple 'short-term', 'long-term', or 'out for the season' would meet the need.

All teams, except QLD, have the decency to specify the nature of injuries. QLD choose to use 'undisclosed' for several of their players. There maybe two reasons why they do this:- 1 - there are no competent doctors in QLD, or 2 - in QLD they choose to treat all others in the country with arrogance, or contempt, or both.

Deadset this is a poor read. Every injury is listed as "Duration: TBC – Earliest Return: TBC" Do some research and come back to us with real information, its like you asked a 2yr old to right this stuff up!

This shouldn't be taken as a criticism of this site because it's not. However it is very noticeable this year that players aren't being selected and they aren't classified as injured. This is because the clubs are foxing with selections. For example BPA wasn't selected for the last 2 games and wasn't listed as injured. Then today he is selected and the news is that he wasn't selected for the last 2 weeks because he had a strain. Could our news sleuths please ask some more hard questions on injured/non selected player in the news conferences or however they get inside information??

Initially perhaps but as return becomes closer a time should be easier to predict. If you read the weekly injury reports all they really do is tell you someone is injured, very vague.
