We’re set for another big day of player moves, breaking news and intriguing rumours as day five of the 2018 AFL trade period kicks off. Join me from 10am (AEST) as we keep track of everything from whispers, concrete moves and – of course – your reactions to all the latest trade talk.

Yesterday saw an absolute flurry of trade action, with deals involving Mitch McGovern, Jared Polec, Jasper Pittard, Gary Rohan, Ryan Clarke and Tom Hickey all being rubber stamped, as well as a confusing pick swap between the Lions and Suns that may well become more important as the week goes on.

On the other side of the coin, Melbourne’s Aaron vandenBerg and Adelaide’s Cam Ellis-Yolmen both elected to re-sign with their current clubs, ending rampant speculation both were seeking to move elsewhere.

We also had two big pieces of news break overnight, with Carlton’s signing of Alex Fasolo from Collingwood as an unrestricted free agent finally being completed. The Magpies received pick 57 as compensation for the loss of the goalsneak, who only managed one senior game this year.

The other big news, which has only just broken and is definitely in rumour-only stage, is that Dayne Beams may turn his back on the Brisbane Lions after all and request a trade back to Collingwood.

Beams has always been on track to return to Victoria at some point in his career, with many believing his current contract – which expires in 2020 – will be his last in Queensland. Damian Barrett is now reporting, however, that a change in circumstances means Beams is set to request a return to his old club.

While that would ordinarily spell disaster, a potential move by Beams could net Brisbane the currency they need to appease Fremantle in their pursuit of Lachie Neale.

We’ll also hopefully see progress on deals involving Dan Hannebery, Chad Wingard, Rory Lobb, Jesse Hogan and more.
