The clock is really starting to tick now as we enter Day 7 of the 2018 AFL trade period, and clubs have less than 72 hours to finalise their trade deals. Join me here on The Roar for all the latest trade news and rumours, starting from 9am AEST.

As the final days of the trade period begin there’s still a number of big names stuck in limbo, and plenty of smaller names there as well.

The stories of Lachie Neale and Jesse Hogan are well known at the moment as Fremantle obstinately refuse to come to the table on either deal, and it remains unclear whether or not they’ll bend.

Tim Kelly is in a similar position to Neale, as his current club Geelong look set to dig their heels in and are only willing to accept a very good deal.

Chad Wingard and conversely Ryan Burton seem likely to trade places before the week is out but it will depend on how Burton’s USA medical goes today and on whether or not Port and the Hawks can nut out a deal.

However perhaps the biggest mystery at this stage of the trade period is just what will become of Brisbane’s Dayne Beams, who is known to be interested in a trade back to Collingwood.

Beams’ agent Paul Connors confirmed the longstanding rumours about his client recently, saying Beams had notified the Lions that he’d like to return to Collingwood.

Beams is contracted until the end of 2020 and has said he’s happy to fulfill that contract, unless a trade deal is offered to Brisbane which they are happy to accept.

Is that likely to happen this year? Probably not – Collingwood don’t have much in terms of trade currency and probably not a huge amount of salary cap room either.

But hey… it’s the trade period. Anything could happen.
