The 2018 AFL Trade period may be winding down, but there are still a lot of juicy deals just waiting to be done over the next two days. This is The Roar’s official live update page where all the latest trade news and rumours will be posted.

We had only the one trade yesterday, with Sam Lloyd’s long-rumoured move from Richmond to the Western Bulldogs finally taking place. The small forward moved west in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick.

But day seven was still filled with plenty of drama, with the big deals involving Lachie Neale, Dylan Shiel, Dayne Beams and Rory Lobb all still yet to be completed.

Shiel made headlines when he picked Essendon – ahead of the Blues, Hawks and Saints – early in the trade period, but the actual transaction hasn’t yet taken place. With rumours that GWS are keen to offload a number of players for unders to ease pressure on their salary cap, Shiel is the one player they’re asking a high price for – and the Bombers are baulking.

Beams, on the other hand, appears happy to see out his contract with Brisbane if Collingwood can’t put up the currency for him and, with draft picks needed to match father-son bids, it looks increasingly like the ex-Lions skipper will stay put.

Fremantle are the club with all the cards as far as the other two big trades go, with the Dockers unhappy with Brisbane’s offer for Neale, while simultaneously trying to pry Lobb from the Giants for cheap.

The Dockers have also ruled out pursuing Melbourne’s Jesse Hogan, citing the Demons’ high asking price.

If one, or both, of those trades get across the line today, it should open the floodgates to a flurry of late-period action.
