For the second time this season, COVID-19 has forced a change to the AFL’s fixture, with the Brisbane Lions now hosting the Fremantle Dockers at the Gabba instead of travelling to Perth. Keep an eye on proceedings with out live scores on The Roar from 4:40pm (AEST).

The COVID situation in Western Australia saw the AFL make the change mid-week, switching a later-season fixture between these two sides around so the Lions could face the Dockers at home here.

It’s an ideal boon for the Lions, who themselves had a home clash with Collingwood swapped after their own COVID drama back in Round 3. Having won three games in a row, including a 49-point thrashing of flag fancies Port Adelaide last week, Chris Fagan’s men look every inch the premiership contender they have been for the last few years.

While reigning Brownlow Medallist Lachie Neale remains on the sidelines with an ankle injury, Hugh McCluggage has stepped up in his absence, the rising star enjoying a career-best season. Stopping the skilful winger will be priority number one on Freo coach Justin Longmuir’s to-do list.

The Dockers’ own three-match winning streak was brought to a crashing halt with a humiliating loss to crosstown rivals West Coast in the Western Derby. Compounding that loss was injuries to young defenders Ethan Hughes and Heath Chapman, the blows leaving Longmuir with barely 22 fit players to choose from for this match.

However, he still does have Nat Fyfe to call on, and you can guarantee the superstar skipper will leave no stone unturned in trying to earn his team an upset win.
