Show Preview

The COVID-ravaged West Coast aren’t expected to put up much of a fight in a clash with Brisbane that has the potential to be a Gabba bloodbath. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 7:25pm (AEST).

The Lions are premiership contenders in 2022, while the Eagles are… very much not.

A combination of Western Australia’s COVID outbreak, a debilitating injury run, and the team’s fall from grace in the last two seasons, things have got very ugly very fast for Adam Simpson’s team.

Making it harder is the need to once again turn to WAFL top-ups simply to field a complete team, with Jake Florenca the latest reserves player to make his AFL debut. Interestingly, ruckman Hugh Dixon, an Eagles squad member, has still found a way to be dropped amid the carnage.

For the Lions, the chance to find a new forward structure with Joe Daniher sidelined for the next few weeks with a shoulder injury is about all they can really take out of this game.

However, a percentage boost could prove crucial in the run to finals – and many think the Lions have a real chance at breaking some long-standing AFL scoring and margin records if they really want to.
