The Carlton Blues and North Melbourne Kangaroos will both be in search of a second win for the season when they match up on Sunday afternoon at Marvel Stadium. Join The Roar for all the action, with live scores and a blog of the match starting at 1:10pm AEST.

Last weekend, Carlton blew a 36-point second term lead to lose to Hawthorn by five-points on Sunday afternoon.

At University of Tasmania Stadium, the Blues were brilliant in the opening half, kicking eight of the first ten goals and dominating play.

However after the main break the developing side let the Hawks back in it before a tight final term decided the match.

North Melbourne also lost in Round 6, a Friday night clash against Port Adelaide finished a lot closer than it had been throughout the night.

A final quarter blitz by the Kangaroos reduced the margin to just a 16-point deficit at the final siren, but the same issues remained for the one-and-five Roos.

The aftermath of the trip to Tasmania has not been ideal for Carlton, with four changes required this weekend due to injury.

To make matters worse, the Blues will lose a lot of age and experience with these changes – Matthew Kreuzer (adductor), Mitch McGovern (hamstring), Nic Newman (knee) and Kade Simpson (hamstring) are all on the sidelines.

Charlie Curnow, Andrew Phillips, Tom Williamson and Liam Stocker are the inclusions.

Liam Stocker will debut for the Blues. Selected at pick 19 in the 2018 AFL Draft, Stocker has impressed early in the VFL.

Charlie Curnow should take to the field this weekend, after being withdrawn late multiple times so far this season.

Carlton’s youth will certainly be on display this weekend with 13 players aged 22-years-old or younger.

Where Carlton’s changes have been forced through injury, Brad Scott has swung the axe for North Melbourne.

Luke Davies-Uniacke, Sam Wright, Nathan Hrovat and off-season recruit Aaron Hall have all been dumped for the must-win clash with the Blues.

Shaun Higgins headlines the inclusions for the Kangaroos, with Marley Williams, Taylor Garner and Jy Simpkin also returning to the AFL side.

Williams has recovered from an ankle injury sustained in round two and has earned immediate call-up to the AFL team, while Garner and Simpkin have been elevated after good showings in the VFL.

Round 4, 2018 in Tasmania was the last time these teams played; it was Roos day, an 86-point flogging, with highlights including five goals for Ben Brown.

North’s Jed Anderson notches up his 50th AFL game on the weekend, while Blue Ed Curnow hits the 150-match milestone.

Prediction
While it is highly unlikely to be the game of the round, we can hope for is a close one.

It’s time for a North win and they’ll get it this weekend against the young Blues.
