A huge challenge awaits the Carlton Blues when they host the West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog of the match from 3:20pm AEST.

Blues fans are re-emerging and will go crazy asking for David Teague’s signature should their club get up on Sunday afternoon.

Standing in Carlton’s way though, is a West Coast side on the march to a home qualifying final, currently dominating their opposition.

Patrick Cripps ran amok in the middle last weekend, as Carlton kicked away to a 27-point win over the Adelaide Crows.

It was the Blues’ third win in-a-row, something they have not achieved since early 2016.

West Coast hosted North Melbourne on Saturday afternoon and a dominant performance by the home side boosted their percentage, sending them to second on the ladder at the end of the round.

The Eagles were allowed too much of the footy, and their tall forward line was too much for the Roos defence to handle, including a seven-goal haul by Josh Kennedy.

Carlton will be without defender Liam Jones, who has been withdrawn for personal reasons following the passing of his mother.

Hugh Goddard replaces Jones, returning from a broken cheekbone sustained in his first game in the navy blue in Round 17.

Zac Fisher is back in the side after recovering from illness, Paddy Dow the unlucky omission who will play VFL this weekend.

West Coast have made just one change, with their skipper Shannon Hurn returning to the side from a calf strain.

Francis Watson has been omitted after two weeks of AFL action.

The last time these two teams played was well over a year ago, West Coast holding onto a 10-point victory at the MCG in round five.

The Eagles had plenty of opportunity and had 12 more scoring shots from only six more inside 50s, however were inaccurate with 10 goals and 19 behinds.

Elliot Yeo will play his 150th AFL game this weekend, while Jackson Nelson will reach the 50th game milestone in his fifth season.

Prediction
What a statement it would be if Carlton could defeat West Coast, however it is unlikely to be the case.

In a tight race for the qualifying final hosting duties, the Eagles will not want to drop this one.

Don’t count out the exciting Blues, but West Coast should get the job done under the roof of Marvel Stadium with a big second half.
