The 2019 JLT Series comes to a conclusion as the Collingwood Magpies host the Carlton Blues in a Monday afternoon clash at Morwell Recreation Reserve. Join The Roar from 2:10pm (AEDT) for live scores and commentary.

It’s the final game of pre-season for both these teams, and they’ll both be going in buoyed by last weekend’s results.

Carlton surprised arch-rivals Essendon, defeating them by 9 points. Collingwood, for their part, held off a spirited Fremantle outfit to win by 27 points in West Australia.

This clash will likely be a tough one for both outfits, as they fine-tune their team before the first round in a little under two weeks time. For the Blues, Collingwood will be a tougher opponent than the Dons last week, but Collingwood will not want to underestimate today’s opponents.

Collingwood went into last week with a reasonably strong side, but it gets even stronger this week. Mason Cox, Adam Treloar, Jeremy Howe, Brayden Maynard, Tyson Goldsack and former Docker Chris Mayne joining the squad for today’s clash. First-year players Isaac Quaynor, Nathan Murphy, Rupert Mills and Jash Daicos have all been excluded.

Carlton’s sharpened up their team a little too. They’ve made four changes, with Matthew Lobbe, Lochie O’Brien, Angus Schumacher and Jack Silvagni all deporting the team. Some big names are in: Alex Fasolo and Levi Casoubolt join the team, while Liam Stocker and Patrick Kerr will also get a chance to perform in pre-season.

Prediction
I genuinely reckon this will be a close clash. Collingwood have the advantage in experience and talent, but the Blues did nothing but impress last weekend and cannot be conclusively ruled out of this one. My heart says who knows, but my head argues for Collingwood. And my head wins out. The Pies, by around 20 points.

Collingwood by 23 points.
