The Essendon Bombers will be wanting to bounce back after a hefty loss when they host the GWS Giants at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

Last week’s Friday night outing did not go as planned for the Bombers. Billed as a massive clash, the Dons kicked just three goals as they lost to the Brisbane Lions by 63 points.

It was a shattering defeat for the club, who have now lost two of their past three games – their last win coming over last-placed Adelaide a fortnight ago. In ninth position, they remain just outside of the top eight, with serious questions surrounding them regarding consistency and finals potential.

The Giants have regained some of their mojo, victorious in their last two clashes after an indifferent beginning to the year. Those games – a 12-point win over Richmond and a 26-point victory over the Suns – have secured GWS (for now) within the top eight. The club has an opportunity with this match – and next week’s unusual derby against the Swans in Western Australia – to solidify their spot in the eight.

The Giants have played two games at Metricon Stadium this year, splitting the results. Essendon have ventured to the ground on three occasions, winning just once.

The Bombers have made four selection changes tonight. Matt Guelfi and Irishman Connor McKenna are their two most noticeable inclusions. Leon Cameron’s side lose Matt De Boer, Toby Greene and Sam Jacobs, but gain Callan Ward and Shane Mumford.
