The biggest game of Round 7 is today’s Western Derby, as the Fremantle Dockers host bitter rivals the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 6:35pm (AEST).

They’ve manfully battled the Queensland hubs for five weeks, and now both West Australian squads are back in Perth. In front of the largest crowd the league has seen this season, the perennial rivals are today contesting the Western Derby.

Freo’s record in derbies has been horrid in recent years – including a 91-point loss last year. Fortunately for the Dockers, their 2020 form has improved with hard-earned victories over Adelaide and St Kilda in the past fortnight.

The Eagles, too, are aiming to make it three on the trot after wins against Adelaide and Sydney in the last two weeks. The Eagles have not been as competitive as the Dockers have throughout the season, but do have a much healthier list.

Despite this being both teams’ home ground, the Eagles have a better home record since the venue’s opening. Fremantle is aiming to avoid losing their tenth Derby in succession, an effort that will be severely hampered by the loss of injured superstar Nat Fyfe and highly rated youngster Hayden Young.

In a further blow for the Dockers’ defensive unit, tall Griffin Logue has also been ruled out, but that loss is softened by the timely return of Brennan Cox.

West Coast welcome back captain Luke Shuey into their Derby line-up.
