Minor premiers Geelong take on the year’s most remarkable story in Collingwood for the right to host a preliminary final as finals footy continues at the MCG. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 4:35pm (AEST).

The Cats have been the benchmark all season with their star forward line, experienced midfielders and consistent defensive line. They won their last 13 games leading into the final series to finish on top of the ladder.

They also had five of their players named in this year’s All-Australian side and three forwards inside the top 10 in the Coleman Medal count. It has been some year for Chris Scott and his team.

Jeremy Cameron has been the hot topic around the football world this week, with the Cats sweating on his fitness but ultimately naming him to start in this afternoon’s match. They will also welcome back wingman Mitch Duncan and their No. 1 ruck in Rhys Stanley.

The Magpies snuck into the top four to earn a double chance after sinking Carlton in the final two minutes last weekend. After a 2021 to forget, the Magpies won 12 of the last 13 matches leading into September to give new coach, Craig Macrae, a dream start to his tenure at the club.

They have been sweating on the fitness of gun midfielder, Taylor Adams, this week, but he has been named to take on the Cats this afternoon. The Magpies will be flying high and backing their ability to sneak across the line in tight contests this year.

The key matchup this afternoon will be how the Magpies defence line up on All-Australian trio Jeremy Cameron, Tom Hawkins and Tyson Stengle. Brayden Maynard is the only Magpie to be named in the All-Australian side this season and will be key to shutting down the Cats’ potency in front of goal.

I am calling a tight victory to the Cats as they march towards their first flag in over a decade.
