The traditional Easter Monday classic sees the Geelong Cats and Hawthorn Hawks resume hostilities at the MCG. Stay up to date with their AFL clash with live scores on The Roar from 3:20pm (AEST).

Everyone’s been feeling sorry for the Lions after last Friday night, but not many people are talking about how Geelong – a pre-season premiership favourite – are incredibly lucky not to be winless coming into Round 2. In fairness, the Cats dominated Brisbane for long stretches of their narrow win last week, but there’s still plenty of room for improvement for a side with big plans for 2021.

After an almighty comeback against Essendon, Hawthorn copped a bit of a reality check against the Tigers last week. The Hawks were far from disgraced, but you’d have to say the back-to-back reigning premiers were able to cruise to fairly easy 29-point win over their vastly less-experienced opponents. Alastair Clarkson will be hoping to push his club’s modern-day rivals a bit more.

Geelong put the Hawks to the sword in last year’s meeting, running away in the second half to post a 61-point victory. Hawthorn’s loss last week as their first at the MCG in six matches, whereas the Cats have actually dropped four of their last six games at the ground.
