Two premiership contenders, the Geelong Cats and Port Adelaide Power will be eager to flex their top-four muscles as they meet at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

Port Adelaide have vanquished all doubts: they are an authentic premiership contender this season. There was an increasingly acknowledged opinion of the Power being just that, but last weekend’s 21 point win over reigning premiers Richmond solidified it. That win was their fourth from their past five games (the only aberration being a shock loss to St Kilda), and they remain a game clear in first.

Without Port’s fanfare, the Cats have been moving along rather nicely too. They bounced back from losses to the Eagles and Collingwood with comfortable wins over Freo, the Kangaroos and St Kilda to begin the round in third in a contested battle for the top-four. They need to keep winning though, given just how congested the middle of the eight is.

Port Adelaide have the benefit of a longer break (six days rather than the Cats’ four), but are travelling from Adelaide, as opposed to Geelong who have been in Queensland since Monday night’s win.

Metricon Stadium has been a very happy hunting ground for the Power this season, with the South Australians winning all four games they’ve played here so far. Geelong are yet to play at the venue, but in recent times most of their games on the Gold Coast have been comfortable wins over the Suns.
