Show Preview

The Geelong Cats will be looking to keep their top-two hopes alive when they host the St Kilda Saints at the Cattery, with the Saints in turn clinging grimly to their finals hopes. Tune in right here on The Roar with live scores from 4:35pm (AEST).

Just two points out of the eight heading into Round 22, the Saints’ poor percentage means only winning both their final games will suffice if they want to feature in September – and even that might not be enough.

Nevertheless, their best is good enough to make an impact on the finals, as they showed with an upset win over the red-hot Sydney last week. With key defender Dougal Howard back and ready to take on Tom Hawkins, plus the perpetually injured Dan Hannebery finally ready for his first game of the season, the Saints have added plenty of experience to the line-up.

The Cats suffered a major reality check with a shock loss to GWS at home last week. Top two is still in their own hands given they play ladder-leaders Melbourne in the final round – but rediscovering their best form is arguably just as important.

With important defenders Tom Stewart and Zach Tuohy both missing through injury, the Cats’ always formidable backline looks a touch understaffed this week. Helping their cause, though, is the return of boom recruits Jeremy Cameron and Isaac Smith.
