The Gold Coast Suns haven’t won a QClash against state rivals Brisbane in four years, but their young crop will back themselves to inflict a shock upset on one of the premiership favourites. Join The Roar for live scores and commentary from 4:10pm (AEST).

The Suns are mid-table with a 2-3 record, but have beaten the in-form Carlton in a sign that perhaps a bright future is indeed in store after a dark first decade.

Their record against their Queensland foes isn’t great: they have won just six of the 21 QClashes played to date, with the Lions winning the last six. Underdogs yet again, this might be the Suns’ best chance since 2018 to get one back.

Brisbane were tested all the way by Collingwood in Round 5, eventually escaping with a seven-point win. But 4-1 and inside the top four, last year’s semi-finalists have again set their year up nicely.

Joe Daniher looms as the key man again for the Lions; with an equal AFL-most 16 goals for the season heading into Round 6, the former Bomber has been a focal point all year. It will be up to Suns defensive lynchpin Sam Collins to thwart him: do that, and the Suns will be in this match up to their eyeballs.
