Show Preview

Two sides desperately looking for a return to form go head-to-head as the Gold Coast Suns play the Essendon Bombers at Metricon Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:10pm (AEST).

After a wonderful start to the season, the Suns are starting to slow down, losing three straight matches and four of their past five. There is a silver lining, however, with two of their last three defeats coming by under a goal to very good teams. The finals may be slipping away, but it’s clear Gold Coast are on the right path.

Essendon have better shot at cracking the eight, sitting one win behind eighth-placed GWS with a game in hand, but they also need to get a wriggle on. The Bombers have dropped three of their last four matches, with their two most recent wins being very uninspiring scraps against lowly Adelaide and North Melbourne.

Gold Coast have lost their last four matches against the Bombers, but held a large lead in last year’s meeting before falling short by ten points. The Suns have lost their last three matches at home after winning three in a row when the season resumed. Essendon have also lost their last three matches at Metricon Stadium.
