Fremantle’s surprising start to 2022 faces a real test on Sunday afternoon, in the form of a resurgent Gold Coast fresh off one of their finest ever wins. Join The Roar for live scores and rolling coverage from 1:40pm (AEST).

Few expected the Suns to topple Sydney at the SCG last week, but do it they did, and as a result, a home match, even against the 7-1 Dockers, is eminently winnable.

Levi Casboult and Mabior Chol have proven an effective forward line combination for Stuart Dew in the absence of emerging star Ben King, while the backline, marshalled around Sam Collins, can be seriously restrictive on its day.

The battle in midfield between two of the game’s best rucks in Suns co-captain Jarrod Witts and Freo big man Sean Darcy is a particular highlight of this juicy game.

The Dockers welcome back five of the six players who missed their win over North Melbourne last week due to COVID, including key back Griffin Logue and wingman Blake Acres.

Missing is Michael Walters under health and safety protocols as a close contact of a COVID case, while goalsneak Sam Switkowski is concussed and youngster Nathan O’Driscoll out for six weeks with a foot injury.

This match presents as a real banana-skin game for the Dockers. They’ve got nothing truly to prove against a team like the Suns, but can’t afford to slip up lest their hold on second spot on the ladder behind Melbourne weaken.
