Fresh off disappointing losses, the Gold Coast Suns and the Port Adelaide Power lock horns in the sunshine state looking to return to the winners’ list. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:45pm (AEST) as Saturday afternoon footy commences.

The Power are beginning to win a reputation as flat-track bullies, a label enhanced by their disappointing home loss in Round 13 to Geelong. They’re on a hiding to nothing if they hope to fix that against the lowly Suns, but a win is vital as they strive to keep their top-four hopes alive.

Ruckman Scott Lycett is a crucial inclusion for Ken Hinkley, the important ruckman having served his four-match suspension for a crude sling tackle in Round 8’s Showdown. Without him, the Power have twice lost at home as well as escaped with a one-point win over lowly Collingwood, so perhaps the former Eagle holds the key to their flickering premiership hopes.

Suns fans have been spoilt for choice when it comes to disappointing losses in their ten years in the AFL, but last week’s loss to an injury-depleted Fremantle was right up with any of them. Yes, it was on the road, but Stuart Dew’s side were rife will skill errors, lacked composure with ball in hand, and missed a string of crucial shots that would have had the coach tearing his hair out.

Nevertheless, the Suns are a different prospect at Metricon Stadium, most notably having beaten a finals hopeful in Sydney there this year. The Power can’t head into this one thinking they will be an easy kill.
