Saturday afternoon football moves to Townsville as the Gold Coast Suns play host to the St Kilda Saints in a Round 13 clash that has more in it than it may have seemed at the beginning of the year. Join The Roar for live scores and coverage from 1:45 (AEST).
The Suns have exceeded expectations this season in the win column and have tested sides in some of their losses. They were unlucky to walk away without the four points in the corresponding match in the opening round.
Jarrod Harbrow, Alex Sexton and Brayden Fiorini have been tremendously consistent this year for the Gold Coast and have been monumental in the Suns being right in several matches.
For the Saints, they come into the match rested from the bye after their horrific match in Shanghai, in which they lost skipper Jarryn Geary for another stint as he injured his lower leg.
During the week, St Kilda also lost under-appreciated midfielder Jack Steele due to a dislocated knee at training, but that wasn’t the only change for the Saints, making 7 changes to the side that flew to China.
The Saints began the season on fire, jumbling predictions of where they would be at seasons end. But they have since plummeted in form from injuries and a difficult draw.
The result against the Suns on the road could determine to the AFL world where the St Kilda Football Club belong on the ladder and whether they belong in that position with Alan Richardson at the helm.
Prediction
The Saints are up against it at the moment with injuries and despite where they sit on the ladder the Suns are no easy task.
Suns by three points.
