Show Preview

The Gold Coast Suns are looking to extend their winning streak to three when they host the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium. Follow the action from the glitter strip with live scores on The Roar from 4:35pm (AEST).

Things looked dire for the Suns just a fortnight ago, but consecutive upset wins have eased the pressure on Stuart Dew and showcased a bright future. The perennial cellar dwellers showed some serious mettle to hold off first reigning premiers Richmond, and then GWS, in twin thrillers to push them out of the bottom four for the time being.

Things aren’t getting any easier for them, though, with the Bulldogs a cut above those two sides. In addition, injuries have bit hard, with important midfielder Hugh Greenwood out for the season with a knee injury, while running backman Oleg Markov and key forward Sam Day will also miss this match.

The Dogs’ quest for a second flag under Luke Beveridge hit a snag with a loss to Sydney last week. While still one of the flag favourites, they have occasionally struggled against the best sides in the competition, having lost to Melbourne, Geelong and the Tigers previously.

However, they welcome some cavalry back for this match, with gun forward Aaron Naughton and ball magnet Josh Dunkley both slotting straight back in. Beveridge has opted to give number one draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan a second chance to show his wares after an inauspicious debut, while Tom Liberatore has been managed.
