A grand final replay is footy’s Friday night affair, as the GWS Giants host the Richmond Tigers at Giants Stadium. Join The Roar for live scores from 7:50pm (AEST).

The last time these two played each other, it was disastrous for the Giants. The 2019 grand final was a decider debut to forget for GWS, as they lost by 89 points against the Tigers. Fortunately for them, they’re unlikely to put in such a bad showing against the same opposition in consecutive games.

Richmond, for much of this season, have not been in the ominous form they’ve so often displayed in recent years. They’re starting to find their feet, though, winning three on the trot, including smashing North last weekend by 54 points, and getting themselves back in the top-four mix.

Leon Cameron’s team has been a little wayward this year, winning against Hawthorn and Collingwood before dropping their last two. This dubious form has left the expansion club stranded in the bottom six, with a number of questions emerging about their chances in 2020.

Richmond currently have an even 3-3 record at this venue. Their latest game at Giants Stadium ended in defeat by 49 points (their second-biggest loss of the 2019 season).

GWS’s record at their home ground this year has been excellent, with last week’s slip-up against Brisbane their only blemish at the venue thus far.

The Giants have made three changes to last week’s side, with Toby Greene and Sam Jacobs joining Daniel Llyod as inclusions. Bobby Hill, Jackson Hately and Shane Mumford depart. The Tigers have made one change: Patrick Naish is in, while Josh Caddy is out with injury.
