Show Preview

Wagga Wagga plays host to a 2019 Grand Final rematch as the GWS Giants look to get some early season revenge on their big dance conquerors, the Richmond Tigers. Join The Roar for live scores from the Marsh Community Series from 12:40pm (AEDT).

It might only be pre-season, but with 17 Giants on hand who played in their September humiliation last year (plus another, newly recruited ruckman Sam Jacobs, whose former side Adelaide also have a recent Grand Final thumping at the hands of the Tigers), the orange tsunami have as much to play for as any team going around.

The match is Stephen Coniglio’s first match as the Giants’ new captain, having missed their first Marsh Series match against Sydney due to State of Origin commitments. A host of teammates, including Toby Greene, Jeremy Cameron and Josh Kelly, are also returning to the fold for the same reason.

The Tigers were missing plenty of personnel in last week’s loss to Collingwood. They welcome back Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt, Tom Lynch and Bachar Houli, among others, from Origin duty. They’ll be keen to provide some early proof that a third premiership in four years is well within reach in 2020.
