Show Preview

The West Coast Eagles travel to Melbourne looking to bank a win over the struggling Hawthorn Hawks for their first points away from home this year. Follow the action with live scores on The Roar from 1:10pm (AEST).

The Eagles are yet to register a win on the road in 2021; given the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Western Australia very nearly pushed them into another hub away from home, they’ll want to rectify that situation, and fast.

Their crippling injury list has another big name on it this week, with defender Tom Barrass joining the likes of captain Luke Shuey, Shannon Hurn and Jeremy McGovern on the sidelines. Third-game tall Harry Edwards will need plenty of support from his teammates to handle Hawthorn’s in-form big forwards.

The Hawks’ status as battlers in 2021 was affirmed with their thumping loss to St Kilda last week. Coach Alastair Clarkson caused a slight stir by blaming youth for the heavy defeat, despite his team being only slightly less experienced than the Saints.

He’s doubled down on that claim by dropping youngsters Damon Greaves and Finn Maginness for this match, though important midfielder Jaeger O’Meara will miss again with soreness.
