The Melbourne Demons will look to continue their unbeaten start to 2021 against the Geelong Cats in a Sunday afternoon MCG blockbuster. Stay up to date with their AFL clash with live scores on The Roar from 3:20pm (AEST).

They’ve flown under the radar compared to the other teams who started 3-0, but Melbourne are in the midst of their best start to a season since 2005 and move to 4-0 for the first time since 1994 – a year they made a preliminary final – if they get up again today. There are question marks over the opposition they’ve played so far – Fremantle, St Kilda and GWS – so today is their biggest test by far.

But Geelong come into this clash with question marks of their own. They were ambushed by Adelaide in the first round, while their two subsequent wins have come by single-digit margins. The much-discussed win over Brisbane was aided largely by an umpiring howler in their favour, while they didn’t look at all impressive against Hawthorn on Easter Monday – so they’ve also got a lot to prove today.

The Cats got up by three points in a thriller when these sides met last year – their 16th win over the Demons in their last 18 meetings. Three of the last four wins, however, have come by less than a goal. Melbourne are hunting their first home-and-away win over Geelong at the MCG since Round 6, 2006.
