It’s a Saturday clash between a Victorian duo as the North Melbourne Kangaroos and the Carlton Blues meet at the Gabba. Join The Roar for live scores from 1:05pm (AEST).

It’s no secret the Kangaroos are languishing. Zero from five over the past five rounds, North have not won a game since June 14. That win was an upset victory over GWS, at a time where there were good feelings about the squad’s chances this season. Last week’s loss – a 54 point defeat at the hands of Richmond – does not bode well for today’s clash.

Carlton are in much better form. David Teague’s men have prevailed in three of their previous five matches. Last week’s loss was a genuine heartbreaker: after the siren against a Robbie Gray-led Port Adelaide in a sensational game of footy. Incredibly, that was the Blues’ fourth clash decided by under a goal this season.

One fact that does bode well for Rhys Shaw’s side today is their stunning record against the Blues. They have won every clash between the sides since 2015, kicking triple-figure scores in all of them. Carlton have lost by less than 20 points in only one of these matches. That makes this one a danger game for the Blues, albeit one they remain favourites for.

Shaw has made a quartet of changes. Jack Ziebell and Aiden Bonar are out with injury, with Marley Williams and Mason Wood dropped. Jed Anderson, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Nick Larkey and Cam Zuurhar are all in.

Carlton are unchanged.
