Back on the winners list last round, the North Melbourne Kangaroos face a bigger challenge in the Geelong Cats at Marvel Stadium this Sunday afternoon. Join The Roar for all the action with live scores and a blog of the match, starting at 1:10pm AEST.
Last Sunday afternoon, the Kangaroos smashed Carlton by 58-points, dominating the match from its earliest minutes.
North held Carlton to just 13-points at the main break, while putting 66-points on the board themselves.
Clearances may have been even, but the Kangaroos finished 130-up in disposals, demonstrating their dominance around the ground.
The return of Shaun Higgins was appreciated around the contest, the midfielder picking up 37 disposals and three clearances.
Cameron Zurhaar starred with a five-goal haul from 16 disposals, and earned himself a NAB Rising Star nomination in the process.
At the MCG on Sunday, Geelong beat a threatening Essendon by 32-points.
The stingy Cats’ defence were at their best against the Bombers, allowing just seven goals for the match, including three from Jake Stringer.
Mitch Duncan hit the scoreboard with three goals, in an otherwise fairly even effort up forward for the Cats.
North Melbourne will go in with an unchanged line up this weekend.
Geelong only have the one change, Zach Guthrie makes way for Zach Tuohy, who returns following a late withdrawal against the Bombers.
Last time they met was at GMHBA Stadium in Round 12, 2018, where Geelong beat North Melbourne by 37-points.
The Kangaroos hit their straps entering the forward line against Carlton, kicking 18 goals, but how they go up against the Cats defence is one of the questions surrounding this game.
Prediction
North Melbourne were greatly improved in round seven, lifting their intensity and hitting targets going forward.
Their opponent this week though, sits at the opposite end of the ladder and presents a much bigger obstacle.
It’s a danger game for Geelong. The Cats won’t want to drop this one; they’ve stretched ahead on the ladder and will continue to do so on Sunday against the Roos.
Geelong by 27 points.
