The Port Adelaide Power will look to maintain their grip on the AFL ladder’s top spot when they host the Essendon Bombers at the Adelaide Oval. Join The Roar for live scores from 5:05pm (AEST).
It hasn’t been the most impressive couple of weeks for Port, but they’ve won three on the trot and are doing enough to keep Brisbane, Geelong and Richmond at arm’s length. They weren’t ever really troubled by North Melbourne last week, but they took their time to get going and did most of the heavy lifting in the third quarter.
Essendon, on the other hand, need to bounce back after they were embarrassed by the Cats last week. It’s been a disappointing final season in charge for John Worsfold, although they’d been competitive in just about every game in 2020 until then. They’ll have their work cut out for them, but will be keen to put in a better effort.
The Power broke a run of three straight losses against the Bombers with a 59-point demolition late last season. Essendon had a good record against Port before that, however, winning eight of the previous ten meetings. Interestingly, the Dons have won two of three matches against the Power at the Adelaide Oval.
